Frequently asked questions

Which platforms does Polyframe run on?
Polyframe is a native desktop app for macOS 12 or later and Windows 10/11 (64-bit). The same features are available on both platforms.
Is Polyframe a subscription?
No. Polyframe is a one-time license per user - no monthly seat fees, no per-word metering and no cloud lock-in. Updates within your version are included.
Do I need my own AI keys?
AI features use your own provider account for OpenAI, Gemini, Claude or DeepL. You can also run fully offline with a local Ollama model. AI is optional.
Where are my keys and files stored?
AI settings and keys are handled locally by the desktop app, kept separate from the project file you pass on. Your documents never have to leave your machine.
Will export keep my InDesign layout intact?
Yes. Export uses the original IDML package as its base, so structure, layers, paragraph styles and tables are preserved.
Can translators work without knowing InDesign?
Yes. Polyframe extracts a clean list of segments with document context, so translators edit target text in a grid without opening InDesign.
How is my work protected from loss?
Work is saved as a .polyframe project with languages, statuses, memory and settings. The app warns before you lose unsaved changes, and project undo/redo reverses accidental bulk edits.
